Vestry Meeting

Minutes

October 13, 2024

 

Call Meeting to Order:  Shirley

 

Opening Prayer: Frank

 

Vestry Members Present:  Frank, Carolyn, Doug, Sam & Shirley

 

Others Present: The Rev. Jim Stewart

 

Absent:  Rita, Sarah

 

Approve Current Agenda (Amendments/Changes, etc.) Doug made a motion to approve the current agenda with additions. Carolyn seconded and the motion carried

 

Approve Minutes: Frank made a motion to approve the minutes from the September 15, 2024 meeting.  Jim seconded and the motion carried.

 

Treasurer's Report- Sarah Healy

Doug made a motion that we add tithe we received to the money market account.  Carolyn seconded and the motion carried.

Carolyn made a motion to except the financials.  Sam seconded and the motion carried.

 

 

Old Business:

1.      Trunk or Treat:  There will be a Halloween service at 4:00pm and trunk or treat will begin at 5pm.  All are invited to participate. 

2.      Church Website: We are working on getting all the vestry’s pictures and bios.  Jim and Sam gave an update on how it is going and shared some of the new images that have been created for the church and website.  They also showed everyone what the website looks like so far.

New Business:

1.      Thank You Card:  Everyone signed a thank you card for Brad and Shealee for their time spent on the vestry and co-treasurer.

2.      Vestry Pics & Bios:  Pictured of vestry members present will be taken today.  Still waiting on a few bios.

3.      Outlets in the Church:  Sam reported her concern that cords will not stay plugged in a large majority of the outlets in the church.  She will call Jadeco and Big Horn Basin Electric to get bids on what needs done.

Reports:

1.                  Rector’s Report-The Rev. Jim Stewart: Jim spoke about convention and the honor of having 2 bishops present.  He would like us to plan on having a viewing here at the church of both bishops addresses to the convention delegates.  He continues to reach out to parishioners.  He also reported that the pet blessing went very well.  Both her at St. Alban’s and at New Hope Humane Society.

3 Month Evaluation:  Shirley will the forms from the diocese and plan a meeting time for the vestry to do Jim’s 3-month evaluation as it is part of the contract.

2.                  Sr. Warden's Report-Shirley Wildman:  Shirley reported that she and Sarah will begin the budget process for the 2025 budget.  Doug & Frank will join them in this process.  There are signs currently being made for the trunk or treat.  Shirley will be gone to National ECW Board Convention November 17th-22nd.

3.                  Jr. Warden's Report-Samantha Strickler:  Sam asked everyone to  thinking about their reports for the Annual Meeting in January. 

4.                  Born Again-Shirley Wildman:  Shirley reported that Born Again had its best day of sales do date.  On their first day open after change over they made $3,280.00.  They are having a $.99 this coming week.  They will have a volunteer appreciation breakfast on October 24th.  Each person will have the option of picking a place to have $100 donated in their name.

5.                  ECW Report- Shirley Wildman:  ECW will be hosting a chili dinner in appreciation of all the volunteers from the Wyoming Food Bank truck.  It will be November 10th at 5:00pm here at St. Albans.

6.                  Congregational Care Team:  They will meet October 15th.  They would like to get the word out to everyone that if you know someone who needs a visit or phone call, please let Doug or Sam know.  We don’t want anyone slipping through the cracks.

7.                  Vestry Reports:  Carolyn let us know that a representative from the Food Bank of Wyoming was present at the food disbursement on October 2nd.  Jim let us know that he has forms that can be filled out for anyone that needs a Christmas basket. Frank resealed the labyrinth and we will see how it holds up this winter.  After some discussion it was decided that the carpet on the stair leading to the choir loft will be removed as it is extremely loose and dangerous.
